Kids In Technology is a non profit organization dedicated to increasing technology confidence in school aged kids through exciting, cutting-edge, hands-on technology projects on prestigious college campuses within a day camp setting. We are committed to meet this mission while promoting character development among our campers & staff.

Nature of Employment
Kids In Technology students, ages 6-17, will build, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair computers while assembling components to create one of their own! As for software, students learn the latest skills in 2D and 3D Video Game Creation, Programming, Web Design & Flash Animation, Digital Video Production, and 3D Character Modeling. Kids In Technology is a technology education program that operates year around featuring in-school/after-school and Summer Camp programs where our staffers are heroes to our campers!
Currently there are a variety of paid and unpaid positions available. Kids In Technology is seeking college-enrolled camp leaders/counselors/instructors as well as college graduates, certified teachers, technical writers, curriculum developers, researchers, grant writers, office staff, and transportation staff dedicated to helping students learn new technology and think creatively. All candidates, paid or unpaid, must have experience teaching and/or working with kids, an energetic, fun-loving personality and flexible summer schedule.

Dates of Employment
General Summer Camp season extends from June 1, until August 3rd. Specific dates of employment, orientation and training varies according to location. Fall employment is offered year around and is open until all positions are filled.
Compensation / Reward
Compensation is determined by the job responsibilities, duties, and prior experience of applicant.
General Information for all staff
It is expected that all staff be familiar with the summer camp atmosphere as well as enjoy spending time with kids and teens.
Applicants should be self-starters and motivated, enthusiastic individuals.
Staff will be required to attend a training session about one week prior to the start of camp.
All staff is required to maintain KIT’s high standard of excellence.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
KIT provides housing accommodations and meals when applicable.
Staff will be required to take a First Aid/CPR training course.

Camp Director
The Camp Director serves as the KIT representative to the university as well as to the parents of the campers. The Camp Director is responsible for the operation and overall quality control of the camp. This includes performing the administrative duties of the camp, ensuring child safety, coordinating activities and scheduling, supervising the camp staff, and making sure camp is fun for everyone! The Camp Director may also be responsible for instructing courses as necessary.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Camp Administration
University Liaison
Parent Liaison
Oversee camp activities
Manage staff (HR, coverage, employee reviews, etc.)
Assist staff with administrative needs (supplies, broken equipment, etc)
Teaching / camper supervision as needed
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience directing a camp and/or teaching children.
Experience communicating with parents.
Experience with conflict resolution.
Experience supervising/managing others.
Great organizational skills.

Computer Instructor
Computer Instructors will plan, organize, participate in and oversee academic and recreational activities for campers to help ensure a successful, safe, and fun learning environment. Responsible for instructing classes and providing an adult presence on campus to ensure general campus rules are followed. Other duties may include assisting the camp director with minor administrative tasks.

Junior Counselor
Junior counselors assist lead instructors to provide daily instruction in KIT classes. Junior counselors also assist with activities such as sports, team-building activities, field trips, and games.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Passion for working with middle and high school aged students.

Program Specialist
Seasonal / part-time / consulting
The Program Specialist, under the supervision of the Executive Director or her designee, is responsible for the development of high quality technology programs that meet the goals and objectives of the camp, along with standards / guidelines of the ACA and applicable state DOE. It is expected that the Program Specialist be familiar with the summer camp atmosphere as well as enjoys spending time with kids and teens. The specialist should be a self-starter and a motivated and enthusiastic individual.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and implements technology programs that are based on sound educational principles, offers a progression of skills, and are age appropriate for Kids In Technology students.
Monitors software upgrades at facilities and adjusts curriculum accordingly.
Prepares progress reports as requested.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Documented experience in designing and delivering programs to children.
Experience and demonstrated sensitivity in working with people from various ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds.
Knowledge of internet safety procedures
Demonstrated ability in one or more of the following areas: 2D and 3D Video Game Creation, Programming, Web Design & Flash Animation, Digital Video Production, and 3D Character Modeling.
Available spring 2006 to design courses for summer.

Assistant Administrator
The Assistant Administrator, in consultation with the Administrator and Camp Director, is responsible for providing leadership and direction in the planning and implementation of technology, academic, traditional camping, and leadership programs. The maintenance and coordination of high quality programs according to the goals and objectives of the camp and board and for the emotional and physical health and safety of the campers under his/her supervision. The assistant administrator gives direction to leadership staff as assigned. Additional responsibilities are varied and depend greatly on what the camp needs are. The Assistant can expect to do everything from general office work (filing, answering phones) to filling in for camp counselors and entertaining and supervising campers (playing cards, escorting kids to lunch) to consulting with parents. The Assistant Administrator works under the supervision of the Camp Administrator. It is expected that the Assistant be familiar with the summer camp atmosphere as well as enjoy spending time with kids and teens. The assistant should be a self-starter and a motivated and enthusiastic individual.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops specific program activities and materials for academic and traditional camp courses.
Coordinates camper activities and coordinates camper participation in all camp activities.
Delegates specific responsibilities to camp staff members as assigned, helping each to develop leadership skills, responsibility, and a caring attitude as members of a cohesive team
Evaluates camper’s progress at completion of program
Keeps records as requested
Monitors facilities and equipment under his/her care for needed repairs and replacements
Evaluates entire program in consultation with Administrator
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 2 years experience as adult staff in camp or similar setting
Minimum of 1 year experience in implementing program with children
Experience and demonstrated sensitivity in working with people from various ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of safety procedures used in camp operations
Participation in camp leadership program
Experience in supervision of adults
Funding Coordinator
The Funding Coordinator will develop and edit proposals and grants, meet with staff and translate what projects they want funded into a proposal for donors. Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop a relationship with staff and prospective donors are critical to this position.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grant and Proposal writing
Research to find available grants
Organization and follow-up on submitted grants
Develop relationships with funding sources
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree Required.
Experience 1 year or more of grant writing, proposal writing, and/or fundraising experience.
Must possess excellent written and visual design skills
Strong editing skills and attention to detail
Must be able to manage sensitive and confidential information.
Able to handle a number of activities simultaneously with attention and adherence to deadlines.
Ability to develop timelines and manage workload independently.
Knowledge of desk-top publishing desirable.
Writing samples will be required.
Marketing Coordinator
The Marketing Coordinator provides marketing support including designing
and implementing marketing materials for PSAs and other advertisement.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the planning of marketing strategies and objectives.
Research, negotiate and coordinate new advertising opportunities.
Provide marketing support for all KIT locations by producing newspaper
ads, magazine ads, flyers, sign orders, brochures and material designs.
Coordinate with camp employees, vendors and media representatives on development of promotional plans.
Track camp marketing activities.
Coordinate advertising schedules and placement of advertising.
Conduct customer surveys to obtain marketing information about camp
services.
Assist in the planning, implementing and coordinating of special events,
including the parent orientation, fund raisers, camp parties, sponsorships, etc.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year
college or technical school, or six+ months related experience
Excellent written and visual design skills
Strong editing skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
Able to speak effectively before groups of employees and management.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite
